    SSI's

If I use text ssi's (or exec or anything for that matter) for my site navigation menu's on each page, will the spider bots index my whole site if I just leave a link to my site map hard coded (coded in the html) on my index page?
I am assuming that the bots don't get pages 'served' to them as they are on the actual site on the webhost/server. Is this right?
I am very new, but ssi's look pretty good for stuff like this.

    Thanks for any help.

Using SSI won't make any difference to the bots at all. They'll never know the difference because the page is "put together" on the server side before the bot ever sees it.

I use SSI to place several items on my pages (including the navigation menu) and Google never misses a beat.

But it's still best to have a link to your site map on every page of your site to make it easy for your users and the bots to find everything.

    Good stuff from rlrouse !!

Thank you, my friend (If I may be so bold!)

I've been learning incredible amounts of important/pertinant info from you -rlrouse- and others here. I was looking at the thread about 'levels' and agree. I have focused my designing on navigatibility and try to make it as easy to understand, and as easy to orient oneself with, as possible.

Kudos to you, and janeth, narasinha, tikanet, ranjan, minstrel, for great tech help for myself!

( and many others, wen, rocky, cyanide, matauri, webDocter, and at least a dozen others for specific help)

Please do. I have really been made to feel very welcome on WebProWorld, and I sincerely appreciate it.

The atmosphere here is very laid back and non-competitive compared to most others that I visit occasionaly. Friendly folks all around.

It's refreshing when we can give and receive advice, help each other out, and even disagree occasionally in such a friendly manner. Thanks to all!
