Thread: My site needs help!

    My site needs help!

I am having major problems getting traffic to my sites.

    1. I have submitted my site to all the "major" search engines.
    2. I have added content.
    3. I designed them with navigation in mind.
    4. I even started my own Blog.
    5. I have multiple sites all linked together.
    6. I have been promoting through Google Adwords. (briefly)
    7. I have set up forums on my sites and offered downloads.
    8. I even have started 2 FREE projects offering content and FREE graphics and software.
    9. I have signed up with the Amazon affiliate program to generate a "little" cash to pay for the sites.
    10. I have run out of ideas.

Still no traffic. Help me out here please... If you guys could give me some suggestions I would greatly appreciate it.

    Thanks

The main thing you need is incoming links.

Which website are you referring to?

Basically all of them to tell the truth.

I guess http://www.quicksilverdirect.com would be the priority and http://www.zoggin.com would be the next.

    I greatly appreciate any help

    Links, links, and more links

    Hi,
I did the Google link search:
    Type "links:www.quicksilverdirect.com
    into the Google search box

Nothing came up - if no one is linked to your site, then Google doesn't pay much attention. You say you've submitted your site to engines, but they don't seem to be pointing to you.

I think that the only solution to your problem is to spend serious time surfing for places to list your site and product offerings AND for like-minded sites to link with.

This is the drudge work in internet marketing, it is long and tedious and boring but then, one day, out of the blue... the hits just start coming!

I have submitted my site to Google a long time ago and was very high in the rankings. I was selling a different product then and was consistantly in the top 10 always (for the particular keywords anyway.

My site went down for about 4-5 months and I lost all my incoming link I think. Or at least most of them. I still get traffic from some of the old links and probably always will.

What I am mainly concerned with is getting back in the search results and simply getting traffic like everyone else is. I would of course like this traffic to be targeted and I have been doing exactly as you suggested for a while now. I guess I just need to keep it up.

Can you suggest some places I might look at submitting to? And what do you think is the best way to get links. I have tried a lot of the free services out there but they just don;t work that well. I need something free or not too expensive to get my site out there. I even ran a short Google Adwords campaign for about 5 days just playing with it and got pretty good traffic but no buyer I don't think.

Do you know, or could you suggest a few places to submit my site to that you have used and know that they work?

    Thanks

There is something strange in the way you promote your software bundle cd. You can't tell people that you're giving them software in value of a couple of thousands of dollars for only $25 and get credibility. Your main concern should be to make your site look more credible and after that bringing more traffic. Just my opinion.

    Where to link...

Okay, where to link? If by your mention of free services, you mean those emails that come guaranteeing to submit into "x" number of directories, I wouldn't go there!

Since it is the store you want to promote, your best off to start finding on-line shopping sites (like Froogle) and start there. You'll also want to look beyond the big 2 or 3 engines and start submitting to the smaller ones - all of the smaller ones.

To get cross-links, look for sites/companies with offerings that compliment yours. For example, I don't know your particular market well, but in my market (software) I have recently released a software deployment tool. Deployment is a subset of configuration management. So, we went on-line and looked for companies who offered configuration management without the deployment option and invited the link exchange with them (and a marketing alliance which gave us access to their client database). Since we all focusing on the same groups and are telling similar stories, it has helped all members of the network get increased visibility.

The key in the above paragraph is the "complimentary" - perhaps you want to link with collector sites, memorabilia sites, historical sites... Find people who are interested in Native American history and you might find people interested in your photograph CDs.

Look for designer rings - where do graphic designers and ad agencies go to look for their artwork and images? You'll want listings there.

But, to repeat my earlier comment - this is slow and tedious work. I have to do it mostly by myself here and it can take hours of reading and surfing.

I don't know a quick&easy solution, if anyone else does... Heck, I'd like to know too!

Very true... And very tedious. Not looking for quick and easy... I have enough experience to know that is not a real expectation. Been crawling through the forums and search engines. Haven't really thought about the idea of link-exchanges with historical sites though. That's a DUH! on my part... Why didn't I think about that? I guess when you are struggling to get listed and links, and traffic you think of everything but the things you "should" be thinking of.

Trying to run 4 sites and my ebay auctions is a lot for one person. I might be stretched too thin here. I don;t know. It seems I am spending about 6-8 hours a day jjust surfing, and the rest of the time managing my auctions. THat doen't leave much time to actually "work" on my sites and I have photographs to take and edit and templates to make.

Tons of work, but it will be worth it soon. I am starting to get some increases in my traffic already and I have been hitting this site and other forums pretty hard looking for info. I must have added about 20 sites to my Bookmarks in the last 3 days alone.

Nothing on my Blog yet and I am posting looking for info on it too. I have a few neat little posts on my blog, and I figure with as popular as they are right now I can use it to market and to release some of the tension I have from marketing my sites in the first place.

Do you know anything about RSS and Trackbacks and the like?

Do you think it helps? and if so is there somewhere you or anyone can recommend?

    Thanks
