Can we profile you and your job?

We launched JobsInSearch.com this week as a specialist job site for the search engine and related industries.

On the site we have a page of Industry Links, including a link to WebProWorld, but we would also like to expand the content of the site further.

What I had in mind would be a series of articles on the types of jobs there are in the search engine industry so that new people can consider "search" as a career in the future.

In my experience one of the best ways of learning about something new is reading about how other people got involved, what their background, what their job covers and what qualifications/experience is required.

If anyone has any suggestions about the types of jobs we could start to profile first, or wants to provide feedback on their own situation, then please let me know. For those who wish to volunteer their own situation we will ask them to complete a profile proforma.

We can't guarantee to publish every example, but it would be good to build up a range of profiles on the site that people can refer to in the future if they are considering the search engine industry as a career.

    Thanks

well - I would definetly enjoy reading some of that information because as involved with search as I am - I still don't really know what kind of market there really is out there as far as a career in search...

For all we know - Search could be gone tomorrow....

Theres no schooling or colledge based only on search engine optimization... The closest you could probably get to a class on seo - is probably a class on marketing - which has just about absolutely nothing to do with seo....

So I'm not sure what to tell you...

If I didn't have my own company - I probably wouldn't even be in the business....

If everything stays the same for a couple more years - I could see the general public taking search more seriously - but for now - the adverage person still doesn't realize what's involved and exactly how valuable a good seo is to their business....

    Thanks for your response.

By profiling different jobs and people on the site we hope that it will increase awareness of what the jobs cover.

This could be useful for people considering a move in the search industry, and also interesting for people already invloved in the industry.
