Improved Site Research Beyond Link Popularity

Have you ever wondered what info Google Search really has concerning your website beyond their "small sampling" of your inbound link popularity?

Here's a simple Google trick you can perform that will crack open the search safe to shed light on the true popularity of your website URL hidden within the vast Google indexing data.

Simply perform the following Google search query example using your domain name in conjunction with the "+" sign placed after the "." & before the "com", "net", "org", etc.

    Example:
    "YourDomainName.+com"

Google only shows 45 sites linking to my site within their regular popularity sampling. However, using the above technique, Google shows over 500 sites referencing the URL my website.

Give this little Google trick a try and see what extra link information you'll find concerning the true extent your website's reach on Google.

    Cheers!
    Max

Hey, no problem, sfowler - I'm no genius about this thingy. I just stumbled upon this trick by playing around with Google search queries. LOL!

Cool trick. It gave me 1,200 links, but on regular link command it gives me just 84. Damn that google.

Sorry to pour cold water on this, but...

Max, isn't this basically the same as running a Google query for web pages containing the term "www.mydomain.com"

The syntax for that would be something like:

    Great stuff !

Another way to approach it is to use info:yourdomain.com, and then choose "contain the term"

I like that method, coz I can check the links and cache there, too.

Hey, daemon61, how did you manage to acquire 1,200 links?

Well, truthfully, i have no idea...:) I guess the thing is that my site is online for more than 2 years now and Im working on it just last 6 months. Ive done a lot of directory submissions during that time, and people before have done some submissions, so i guess thats that. I have noticed that pretty much websites put a link on us without our request. But this link command bothers me, along with PR that seems to be stuck on 4.

Oh, and btw, here you have nice collection of directories for submissions if you think to go into that - http://www.webproworld.com/viewtopic.php?t=21900

Note: If your domain name is generic or overly general your results, using this technique, may yield slightly generic query results.
    This is exceptional research.....
