Plural or Singular Keywords?

Howdy all,

I thought I should broach the subject of creating plural keywords in title, text & links. While I notice search engines, like Yahoo, will utilize/extract the singular portion of a plural keyword in a search query of the word, I tend to use plural keywords, i.e. -

"Beauty products supplies stores", instead of "Beauty product supply store". While I know that this can give text links or titles a degree of incorrect grammar, it does tend to cover all bases.

So I ask - do you post your keywords within titles, text & links in the singular or plural?

Most of the time I will include both. I put the plural keywords at the front of my meta tag, giving them higher priority because I believe most people search for the plural. It is odd to search for water pipe, and most of the time people will search for water pipes.

Google has some words that it will use variations for. In a search for Supplies Store you will notice that the word Supply is also in the bold results. It is a great shortcut if you can dominate a phrase using supply and allow it to work for both as google seems to allow.

A search for product store does the same. It uses the plural along with the singular. This is not always the case in for some words.

When doing a search for beauty product supply store you also see the variations in the results.

So then you tend to wonder if one is more important than the other. From experience in only one of the keywords you are asking about I can tell you that it doesn't matter. It is the word supply verses supplies. You can use the singular and it will count the same as the plural. On the other terms I cannot say for sure.

I disagree, when i am looking for something I usually only need one of them and so tend to use the singular.
