Yes! If you don't pick one domain name and have the other one redirect with a 301 Permanent Redirect then both domain names could end up being banned in the search engines.

It could have disastrous effects on SEO.

I am a little confused at this statement.. I have about..... 60 domain names.... half point to my www.egameaddiction.com site... there is no problem if they state 301, but what if they state 302?

Could that be killing my rankings?

Do you have suggestions on redirecting my domains... or maybe not redirecting them at all? I am not sure if I can edit the .htaccess file... and my domains(the 60 domains) are forwarded... and my host said they cannot change the forwarding code.

    thanks,
    BV

Thanks for that, need to make amends asap.

Could you point me in the direction of a tutorial or feature telling me what a 301 Permanent Redirect is exactly and what I need to do set this up.

    Thanks
    Ian

Yes, something like that will definitely kill your rankings. If you host says they cannot redirect with a 301 Permanent Redirect then that's hogwash. They can do it, they just don't want to do it or don't know how to do it. Talk to the owner of your web host to get it done if you have to or get another web host.

You can find plenty of 301 Permanent Redirect tutorials out there here.

Even Yahoo! tells you to use a 301 Permanent Redirect.

well... that is bad news... all of my domains (besides the main ones) are showing 302 redirects....

    dang....

Would you suggest that I take off all forwarding until this is resolved?

I found this and wanted to post the url so people can also use it on the proviso that your guys agree its okay to do this for 301

    Code:
    <%@ Language=VBScript %>
    <%
    Response.Status="301 Moved Permanently"
    Response.AddHeader "Location", "http://www.ukmortgagehelpline.co.uk"
    %>
