Is their really a difference? SEO / E-comm help!

    Hello everyone,

I have been promotin my site under two specific keywords for about 8 months.

I'm currently around 10 and 9 on both keywords.

Each of them promise traffic of 20,000 or more hits from the overture keyword tool.

Now my question is, (gulp!) , i havent noticed much traffic increase. I'm still gettin maybe 10-20 hits combined on these keywords. Is it becuase they are not in the top 3? or even number 1?

Your help / suggestions would be appreciated.

    Thanks

    soulja90

There is a study that states after reaching #1 from #2, the trffic has increased 4 times.

There are several factors that can influence this.

First the Overture figures are for all sites that show thier links, and I am assuming that you are only talking about rankings on one search engine, where do you rank on the others?

Secondly your position on the page will affect the number of click thrus, but I have seen some people say that they often get good traffic for #9 or #10 rankings in Google, often more than a #4 or 5 ranking.

Thirdly the way you write your page tile and how the Search engine formats the description will have a great effect on click throughs. look at your SERP title and description and see how it could be improved in order to convince searchers to click thru to your site.

And finally some search engines seem to give better traffic on a particular term than others. Some of this probably has to do with demographics (the average age of searchers on AOL is much more than on MSN for example) and some of it probably has to do with individual search engine preferences.

Top 10 is great. #1 or #2 is a lot better.
