    Recommendations on Domain Names

    My current website is www.JacobsEnterprises.org
I am looking to change the name, to something that more closely resembles what I sell, which is Personal Home Security and Self Defense items. I thought of GlobalPersonalSecurity.Com, but it is taken. Would I be off taking GlobalPersonalSecurity.Net, or should I consider a dash in the name such as Global-Personal-Security.Com, which is available?

    GlobalPersonalSecurity.Net sounds good.

    Here are some other ideas:

    transglobalsecurity
    globaldatasecurity
    globalpaysecurity
    globalsecuritymonitor
    wirelessglobalsecurity
    globalinfosecurity
    globalsitesecurity

    globalsecuritymedia
    globalsecurityink
    globalsecurityshow
    globalcybersecurity
    globalsecurity
    globalsecuritypage
    globalsecuritycenter
    directglobalsecurity

As far as possible, try to get a .com.
With the .net, you might lose customers/returning visitors to the .com version of the site. Ditto with the hyphens.

GlobalPersonalSecurity.com does not seem to be active. If you have your heart set on the name, you may want to consider contacting the owner and see if he would be willing to sell it.

Go with either one to two words name w/o hyphen or more words with hyphens.
You can't reg any natural type-in name (unless you buy one from an owner) so you are limited to search engines and links, as huge majority of all sites.
In that case hyphen is even more advantageous.
Impossible? You just underestimate the time.
