    Paying for multiple Yahoo! listings

I've seen a lot of discussion about whether or not the $299 fee for Yahoo!'s Directory is worth it and I think it is. I currently have a single entry in their directory, but I've noticed that many sites have multiple entries even though the terms specifically state that you cannot get multiple listings.

Did I misread the terms and it really is OK to pay for multiple listings? I'm willing to buy a few more listings because my site deals with several different topics, but I certainly don't want to get penalized for trying.

This also opens up a whole new debate... Is it worth paying for more than one Yahoo! listing?

I am wondering if those listings were grandfathered in from previous versions of the directory. Don't quote me on that, but that could be a plausible reason for the multiple entries -- they did exist before this way.

Just to clairify, there is no grandfathering involved with the directory. What happens is you submit to the directory one time and the editors will place the listing in all the categories where they think it fits best. Once you're in the directory, you can can suggest a category for your link if you think is should be appearing in more than one category by emailing the directory support department. Here's the address:

    url-support@yahoo-inc.com

    Thanks,

My site could easily fit into many categories. Is there a limit or guideline as to how many I should I ask to be listed in? I don't want to come across as trying to be spammy, but our business has 4 different "focuses."
