We are not getting the amount of customers for the amount of visitors.
I feel like the web site is falling short in turning visitors into customers.
Can you tell me what you think about the look of the design the text does it make you want to use our service.
The text I think may be the problem English is my second language and any help in getting the text to grab you would be a great help.
Because the web site is not selling as well as we would like we are changing a lot of pages around. There are over 100 pages and we only have three people that speak English well enough to change the text around . So you may see pages that have not been finished yet but we are working on them right now.
Thanks so much for you help.
We can handle any critical reviews.

    Janeth -

The first thing you are doing is offering your customers a bold promise. A free homepage because you are so confident they will love it?! That's unheard of -- and exactly what it takes to excel. Awesome.

Yes, your text could use some tweaking. But I wonder if you might also consider alternative ways of advertising your offer. What if you created a banner ad or exit pop with this offer? Look for some target audience sites to advertise on.

I would look for sites with high traffic that attract web newbies looking to start an online business. Present them with that offer and I bet you see an increase in your sales.

    My 2 cents.

    Free or Fee?

    HI Janeth,

The site looks good! As far as converting viewers
to customers... that's the question for
    every website.

    A few thoughts:
    1. The home page is way too long. You should break it
into several pages each focused on a topic/purpose.
    2. The home page starts with "FREE WEB SITE" then goes
on the talk about free this... free that.... but I'm
not sure if you are offering me a free website or what.
I think you need to be more clear.
    3. You say "Geeks On Steroids is the only web
design company that builds high quality professional
sites custom made for each customer."
      WOW - that
      is a really strong claim,
      with which I think most
other web designers would argue. And - in making
that statement - you might turn off some customers??
    4. I see on your "prices" page, that you indeed offer
a FREE webpage. Interesting. You should realize that
there is one "pricing strategy" that says you get
what you pay for... or in other words, customers
perceive the value of something by what they pay for
it. That also could be a viewer to customer conversion
      issue.
    5. Portfolio page - (check the spelling on your menu
ofr "portfolio") - redo the thumbnails or the sample
website. They are not clear at all now. Depending
upon the software you use to "resize" the image, you can
reduce it in such a way as to keep the detail visible.
    6. Other pages - most are also very long and have
a lot of text content. You have good information,
but unfortunately most web users are not "readers"...
but rather "scanners". So you should rewrite the
text content into more focused and shorter sections.
OR at least add "subheadings" over most paragraphs.
The subheadings will in a word or two describe what
      the following paragraph contains.

    Hi vwebworld,
On your point #3 it was suppose to have free home page in there but in changing things some how that got dropped.

The home page I'm trying to make shorter but hate to loose my key words.

On the Portfolio page I was not that worried about the thumb nail image because you could click on them and they would blow up. Do I need to write that you can click on them and they will blow up or was your problem after they blew up?

I'm trying to make all the pages shorter now also. This will also help me add to the amount of pages on my site.

    Thanks a lot

    Hi dewachen,
The problem I'm having is not in getting customers to the site it is in getting them to become customers. We get a lot everyday but we loose a lot more.

    What about a guest book?

Would this help me find out what the customers where seeing or would it just be a waste of time?

    thumbnails

    Hi Janeth,

About the thumbnails - when I click on them
they come up ok. But since I can not
see too much clearly in the thumbnail... I might
not bother to click on it.

Eventhough they are thumbnails... the viewer
(potential) client forms an opinion of the
quality of your work based upon seeing them
    (the thumbnails).

    Thanks vwebworld,

I will get someone on that now.

What do you think about the guest book?

Would that help me find out what people are thinking or just cause me more problems?

    guestbook

    Hi,

    A guestbook is ok...
but what you want to find out is why the
viewer did or didn't retain your services.
So, some sort of "exit poll" may be better.

If you have a "newsletter" maybe you can offer
to send that to the person in exchange for completing
    the exit poll?

In the exit poll you want to ask... how they found your
site, what they liked/disliked, and why they aren't
getting a FREE webpage from you?

Not everyone will complete the poll/form and they
might not tell the truth either. So, it may or
    may not help.

    Hi Roland,
Yes the "exit poll" sounds better.
We tried to do a news letter but got about 200 people wanting one and no time to do one.

That was a lot more work then I thought. Do you do a news letter?

    Hi Janeth,

As far as your English goes ... I don’t think there is any problem. I follow your posts regularly and you always "express" what you have in your mind clearly. Having English as the second language is an advantage by itself!!! We use correct grammar and more commonly understood words when compared to someone whose mother tongue is English. And the content on your website never suggests you are weak ... it’s really good ... I don't think English is your weakness ... Just have more faith and confidence in yourself ... Your communication (and English) is your strength.

I would like you to check how many visitors are coming from forums like this one. And almost everyone that comes through this kind of forums are definitely won’t buy your services … they, in fact, are your competitors and are trying to understand what you are up to and / or to steal some ideas. I myself visited your website many times (whenever I see an interesting post from you).

Your website definitely has a good content for someone who is an SEO or a “wanna be SEO”. But it’s definitely lacking a “punch” to make your prospective client to contact you on an impulse when he visits your website. If I were you I will add / redo the pages the potential customer finds. And always remember this: We need to catch his attention in less than 30 seconds … This is the time that the visitor will definitely spend on our website before he can decide to look for another service provider or explore more in our website. One important thing that a client looks at is “the portfolio” I suggest two things for this. One >> get it on the top menu >> that makes it look prominently. Second redo your portfolio page. You can look at Our Portfolio Page to pick up some ideas from what we do. A client will always look for some “real” websites and some cute comments on what value we have added to that site as a designer / SEO. Your portfolio is what sells!! And remember the 30 seconds rule again.

I would like you to segregate your website into 2/3 parts and make menus accordingly. You can pick up some clues from my First Web Creation on how to segregate / classify info thru menu’s. The most Important section in your website should be the one that gets you clients …

If I were you I will concentrate on the following pages and move them to the top menu …. I won’t keep anything there that won’t get me a client (like engines). The sections I suggest (in the order preferably):

    1. Your Home page: Through whichever page the client finds your website, he will definitely visit your home page and here he makes a decision weather he is going to contact you or to visit your portfolio page or just leave your website.

    2. Services: This is again as important as the portfolio page >>> this will make the customer understand what services that you offer and … tell them “the value that you are going to add” when they choose your service.

    3. Portfolio Page: Already discussed above. Make sure you are getting this right.

    4. Pricing Page: The current page looks good >>> but I still want to see some bullet points / sub headings ….. btw, why you are not talking about the SEO services?

    5. Our Team: I am sorry being harsh here >> does it matter to the client how good you look? Why just those pictures? Why don’t you just put up some “profiles” profiles I mean, your qualifications / experiences etc … looking good will help if you have a good profile!!! And I remember reading your profile somewhere .. why don’t you keep that?

    6. Contact Us: Never ever give an email link to a page!!! Imagine if the visitor clicking on that link doesn’t use an email client. Always use a separate page where there is an option for the customer to add “comments” though none fills. But I don’t want to disappoint a potential customer by chance!!!

One last thought: Think you people got a bit carried away with the SEO work on your website neglecting the most important facet: Focus on the potential Customer. When I visited the site earlier, I always found it to be informative. But after you pinpointed the problem I tried to put myself in the shoes of a “client” and I tell you it was definitely not a great experience!!!

While you are trying to rework the content … you can take my help, Janeth. Just feel free to contact me.
