    agntsrvc.exe error on startup

Hi, I'm having a problem when I start my computer. A Microsoft error comes up saying that "Common Client User Session has encountered a problem and needs to close." When I go to the report the app name is: ccapp.exe, AppVer:2.1.0.610, ModName: ccemlpxy.dll. I am using Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition. I've uninstalled my Oracle programs that I had on my computer because I read somewhere that they may cause this problem to occur. I've downloaded Spyware programs but it doesn't fix it. I also have the Ad-Aware 6 program which still didn't help because it still has the error. My Norton Anti-Virus Auto-Protect gets disabled and I'm not able to go online with that computer. Does anybody know what to do? Or where to go online for an answer? I would appreciate any help I can get.

    Thanks, -Adam

Just off the top of my head there is a virus, wm97/Ortant-a, that tries to delete ccemlpxy.dll.

    You can try: http://www.sophos.com/support/disinf.../macrovir.html

    Good call, wen.
ccapp.exe, AppVer:2.1.0.610 is your common client control for Norton AntiVirus. You probably have a virus that is stopping your Norton from updating.

If you can go do an online scan at BitDefender, or Housecall (TrendMicro), they may (and probably will) detect a virus. If it is a corrupted .dll, you can try uninstalling and reinstalling Norton. Make sure you disconnect from the internet while you do it.

Here is wen's excellent list in her post 'Free software and online scans'.

Haha, I should read the whole post properly, hey Adamwlad!

If you cannot get online with that computer, as you mention, try the instructions wen points to, for sure.

What I do with computers that won't work due to infection, is that I hook them up to another computer as a slave drive on the IDE cable, and use the good computer to scan and disinfect the hard drive.

Thank you for responding. It seemed that one of my file-sharing programs was the cause to this problem. I re-installed it and now everything works fine.
