    Church logo

Many useful tips have been given in this forum about establishing brand identity through a well-designed logo. However, I am developing a logo for a church. This is not a business offering goods or services, nor is it even a typical non-profit.
While the church is thrilled with the way the logo has turned out, it does not ensure that the logo itself is good. I think it is bland and without character. Should I push for a change if the customer is already happy with the result?
I have not been able to find any information relating to good church logo design, and was wondering whether anyone had suggestions or ideas on what I might do to improve this one. I can post it here if anyone is interested in seeing it for comment.

We would be happy to help you out. Logo design guidelines apply to all logos - not 'for profit' alone.

    Hi akbigdog,

I think that this logo is very standard... Try to add graphic element... Something that will make it CUSTOM (SPECIAL).

    Good luck!

Thought I'd finish this post by adding the final logo that the client decided on.

Though I couldn't see the new logo in the post, I used the url in a new browser window and saw it there. Nice work.

Just curious what font that is...

The image doesn't display in the post for me either, jawn_tech. I think it is placed correctly in the post--[ img ] http://www.mysite.com/path/to/image.jpg [ /img ], minus all the spaces. If I view the file separately, then come back to this topic, though, it shows up just fine. Anyone have any idea what might be causing this? I think it might be my lousy Web host.

As for the font, I don't know what it is. The final product in my previous post is the result of the client's collaboration with another company they decided to employ for the logo. The font looks like Arial, Helvitica or some other sans-serif.

This client was initially pleased with the logo I created, but I wasn't. About two weeks after it was "completed", I explained why I thought the logo looked unfinished and too generic and offered a few revisions. They decided to completely scrap the logo ultimately decided to use another company. I guess I'm just not too good at keeping my mouth shut when I should. Anyone want to offer a better way to have handled this situation?

I personally don't care too much for this logo; it doesn't mean anything to me (not that the original one did, either). I guess they were trying to represent the idea of hope with the cliche "a ray of hope" or something. Whatever.
