    Can't access my own website

I am one of the administrator for http://www.101egreetings.com. As of Friday, I haven't been able to access the website at all. I just keep getting a "Cannot resolve hostname" error. Infact I cannot access any website on same web server. Our web host is Global Internet Solutions (gisol.com), and their site is not reachable either.
Now this problem is current only in my PC. My colleagues and everyone else can still access the site. I contacted my ISP and they were stumped too. They themselves could access the site. They tried running my account on proxy, and the problem still persisted.
I have had this problem before, but on that occasion all the comps running on our ISP were blocked from accessing certain websites. This time, I just don't know what is wrong. Please Help.

    1. Do you run any kind of irritating software such as ZoneAlarm or norton?

    2. Do you not run any kind of irritating software such as a virus checker or Adaware type thing?

I'm betting the farm on some personal issue with your home computer.

Well, I did run Zonealarm uptill yesterday. I uninstalled it and replaced it with Outpost Pro as advised by my ISP's tech guys. And I do run Spybot s&d. Is that supposed to be a cause of this kind of problems ?

What happens when you disable all the firewall software. Check your hosts file to make sure it's not in there. Reboot.

    is it winxp or 98/me?

Check your hosts file - that is often the culprit.

I can't recall for sure, since I always disable hosts logging, but it may be that on XP and Win 2000 it is enabled by default. Alternatively, if you've installed any so-called "internet speed-up" software, that will often do it too.

This isn't a problem until there is even a minor change in the IP address for the site you are trying to access - then it immediately becomes a major problem because your computer is looking at the host file to resolve the domain name and it will extract an incorrect IP.

I don't know what happened, but all of a sudden the site has become accessible again. No idea what the problem was, and it is probably going to resurface again (god forbid), but thanks to all of you for your brainstorming on my plea for help. You guyz are great.
