I have two questions here....
Q# 1.
We have a several different pages on our site that focus on one of our most important keywords.. What we are trying to figure out is: Which page stands the best chance of rising to the top with Google and what if anything can we do to make that happen? We have given up on the home page, so here are our options for Carrera slot cars (our number one seller)
Site Map (link on home page side bar and all interior page side bars)
Carrera info page (link on home page side bar and all interior page side bars)
Carrera Category Or Product Pages
Complete Carrera Product Listing (link on home page side bar and all interior page side bars)
Q#2 We just about gave up on the site map or product listing doing us any good when early last week.... we shot up to #4 for the phrase Carrera race track for the complete product listing and #5 for the site map... Carrera race track has 49,700 matches.. Carrera slot cars has 50,100.
So, close... but we don't show the site map or the complete listing pages even listed in the top 400 for carrera slot cars... So, we don't know if we should just sit tight and expect carrera slot cars to 'pop up' ??? of if we should focus on another Carrera page... As you can clearly see,, these two pages are nothing but links....
The reason we focused on page of links is that one of our key competitors is www.ncphobbies.com.... They come up on the first page of almost every slot car product ... so they have this figured out..... 99% of their slot car hits go straight to their version of the site map (key in carrera slot cars you will see the page I am referring to) .... One of the things we have noticed is this is the 'funnel' to their 1/32 shop.. You have to go through this page to get to their products.... .. So, one of our hair brained ideas is,,, should we be restricting access to the Carrera product pages if all else fails? Create a funnel? Should we put the info page link on the Carrera Category page... and try to emphasize that page... will this give that page more importance?? (I'm calling the category page the page that says Carrera.. first page that has the New listings at the bottom that has the list of sub categories on it.... Would this give the page more importance if it were the only 'window' into the products??? Does it hurt to have several pages that have Carrera listings on it instead of one and does it hurt to have several different avenues to get to these pages?) Would it be better to have one door to get into all the sub pages that talk about carrera.... If so, we could move all the Carrera links to one page only and send the customers to that page? Your thoughts on these two questions??? Again,, my site is www.Hotslots132.com I promised my husband that I would have our site back up in the top ten by fall... working closely with our programmer Slavi. who is new to website programming so we are learning together! But we aren't in that competitive of an area... So, still hopeful I can get it done!
Thanks again for all your help!
