    Extortion is going too far

As Quoted from pageoneresults post in the highrankings.com forum.

Comments: You have 72 hours to remove these forums from public view...

    ww.seo-forum.net/
    ww.seo-professional-forum.com/
    seo-talk.net/
    ww.web-advertising-info.com/

If they are not removed by Wednesday 10-06-2004 at midnight EST, we will begin to publish personal information we have pertaining to the executives at Traffic-Power and 1P. The first item that will be up for public viewing will be [snip] personal history. This will include the [snip] in the late 80s.

If the forums still remain at the public level by 10-07-2004, we will make public our latest copy of the 1P/Traffic-Power client list which contains over 9,000 URIs within your network. Yes, we do have an inside contact at your company who has continually provided up-to-date client information for our review. If you do not believe this, here is a small sampling of that data. We are pulling 10 rows randomly from the Excel file...
I have only one thing to say here about "pageoneresults" and his obsession with this particular SEO company... EXTORTION

Wow! What a thread. This has been some really interesting (and unfortunately humorous) reading. Although its taken me the better part of this afternoon to read it all, I've enjoyed it quite a bit.

Re: reporting phone calls to the FTC ... 5 calls per week? 10 calls per week? I wish the same applied for fax machines. We were getting fax spam calls once or twice per day, but were told it had to be 5 times per day to be considered harassment.

Hmmm, I learned the basics from my neighbor, and he is an extremely honest SEOer and runs The Info Group. I was so happy for him when his site jumped from a PR4 to PR6.

    Great advice!

I agree with that concept, but I certainly like to know when it goes grey, and consider perhaps I did something wrong. But you're right, if you build it right, keep optimizing it according to good practices, and the green bar will grow accordingly.

This is good practice for telemarketers in general. I seem to recall a chart of sorts that gave points for being able to do certain things to marketers; make them swear, get the boss on the line, get their boss to swear, etc.

This all reminds me of both "LinksToYou" and "Bernard Haldane Associates"

I'm so glad I can't afford to even consider SEO services and "Guarantee"-type services. I'm forced to learn and do it myself. --> Long live Rocky I

Got another call from 1p.com today and they insisted that it was not true that they were/are Traffic Power.

Hmmm... that's funny, look at where they came from when they visited my site:
    oz.trafficpower.com/leads/in/view_lead.html?search_by=&search=&count=130&order_ by=first_name&slice=all&limit=1&start=1

I guess they are encouraging their sales people to lie now. Oh wait, they always did that.

    Hey everyone

    We need your help webmasters!!!

Aaron Wall Author of SeoBook is being sued by the same comnpany that destroyed many of your businesses with their black hat methods.

Please call or write the Nevada Attorney General, Nevada Better Business Bureau, and any other consumer protection organizations you can find in the State of Nevada and file formal complaints regarding "deceptive business practices" aganst the company that ripped you off.

If enough of you help out Toilet power will be so busy documenting and answering the complaints they'll probably back off the law suit!!!

It's been awhile since I have heard much about TP, but here is the latest BBB report I found.

    http://data.fortcollins.bbb.org/comm...l?bid=46007325

Interesting as their other BBB report still exists:

    http://worf.usshurdman.com/~vegas/co...l?compid=58697

I have also been receiving cold calls from several companies that have a oddly familiar sales pitch to TP. Be aware everyone. Question the sales person as much as you can before even considering an SEO firm.
