flood6 - that really is amazing that they are still selling the 'product' -- how much longer are they going to be in business...

GG over at WMW gave some pretty clear evidence that Google have acted against the tactics used by the company and yet they are still trying to sell the product? I not know USA law well, but is that even legal now? (eg misrepresentation).

Has anyone typed traffic power into google recently? In the top 20 or so results, there are more links dealing with the problems of TP than anything else (even this thread comes up)

They have even tried to defend themselves against what is being said in forums - even specifically mentioning the thread over at JimWOrld that has even more tales of horror in it now:

Traffic-Power.com has no problems with free speech or opposing opinions. Forums can be quite entertaining like the writing on the stalls in public restrooms, but probably not the best place to get life or business advice.
(I guess we @ WPW are still below the radar scope at TP compared to JW)

I see Google, Yahoo and MSN no longer list them. This alone should put a BIG nail in their inevitable coffin.

Anyone know of any forums where TP is being defended?

Is a Traffic Power "See" Page dangerous?

I recently found a topic about Traffic Power. Consensus seemed to be that your site could be banned from Google due to the hidden links and other tricks they used on your webpages.

In my case, they created what they called a "see" page which they host elsewhere and did not touch my site at all. The see page autoredirects to my home page.

However, if you turn your browser security up high and visit the see page - www.medical-coding-software.com - it won't redirect and you can view the source. It is filled with hidden links.

My question is - can this get me banned or is my site - www.aardvarkforms.com - insulated? My site is indexed by Google but the ranking are not high. (Page ranks are good though.)

    Thanks.

    Dan

i think techically becasue you are not linking to them you shouldn't be in trouble

if it did get your site kicked out why not just order trafficpower for all you competitors

    why optimize that way though

why not hire someone to really optimize your site?

About a year and a half ago I hired a company to build and new and highly optimized site. They wanted a LOT of money but since I no longer had time to do it in house I figured it was worth it.

Long story short, we went from first place rankings to off the map in a few months. Since then I have been rebuilding and optimizing as I can and our rankings are coming back slowly.

Traffic Power contacted me and it seemed like it could help at the time. But after 4 months I get very little traffic from their efforts. And I don't want to take any chances on getting banned.

I really doubt redirects etc are going to boost buying confidence of your visitors

they are just using a mouseover event to redirect

"Long story short, we went from first place rankings to off the map in a few months. Since then I have been rebuilding and optimizing as I can and our rankings are coming back slowly. "

you hired someone and they made your rankings worse

there wasn't a contract or a gaurentee of sorts

Last I heard, they went out of business and the principle was under federal investigation for fraud.

It was a very expensive lesson. We survived by using the PPCs extensively while working on regaining the natural listings.

I would approach any use of Traffic Power with extreme caution.

There are many threads around the web regarding sites losing all their rankings because they were using TP, and there is now a San Francisco attorney attempting to gather enough information to start a class action suit against them.

Thanks. I just read the thread.

I just cancelled my account with tp and demanded that they remove all the pages they created. Hope I got it in time.
