    Search Engine Submission

    Hi everyone....

I have a simple question what is with charging to submit websites search engines, and then using resubmission on top as a monthly service ???

I see this "service" offered on most other SEM - SEO websites......and it kills me when the SEO Ethics are listed on the site.

I submit my sites to DMOZ and google and that is it.

My sites all hit every major US based search engine and a few in canada and europe. Even the "pay for inclusion" engines which it appears do not need to be paid for after all.

You can veiw some of my results at these two links for further proof.

If a client wants to hit a speciality or niche search engine then I will hand submit. ( And NOT charge )

I never charge for submission and have actually snagged a few clients due to my honesty in such.

Now heres where I have the question.....since I see others charging for submission along side an SEO code of ethics...and I doubt Im the first to make this amazing breakthrough discovery on who to submit to ....why do others do it ??

All services that charge for SE submission and resubmissions are scam, IMHO.

I agree with the delimma you have, if you don't do it, then clients think they have been short changed. I guess if you advertise that you do it, it just makes the list longer of things that you can do for your client to look more impressive ... I guess it does no harm, but agree with your comment re the ethics.

I guess if I was a newbie and trying to decide which company to go with --- if one offers to submit (despite it being a useless activity) and another does the right thing by not offering ... guess which one I would go with?

Another approach could be to write an intelligent article on your site why submitting is a wasted effort - put in links to forums threads re discussion amoung experts on this - maybe this give more credibility.
