Post New Conquests or your Best SCORES Here!

I thought it would be fun to add a sticky for New Conquests or Best SCORES!!!

Since part of the fun of buying anything new - like a car - is the fun of talking about how you found the great deal and showing it off and/or fixing it up.

So let's do this with NEW domains we purchase and want to share stories about. Since there are so many addicts like me here, I know you will enjoy this a much as I do!

NOTE: No Sales Pitches or Appraisal Requests! Just discussions about NEW good names, how you found them, why you picked them or what you plan to do with them etc.

I really don't think there are many potential buyers on this forum
so this is purely for fun and discussion!

OK, I'll start! (You knew I had an ulterior motive didn't you ;-)

1st, I PROMISED myself I would not buy anymore domains for awhile. So I add ones I find to a list and have been trying to force my self to wait, think about them, do research and not make any more impulsive buying decisions.

Well yesterday I discovered that 3 expired names on my list had been registered,
while I was THINKING about them. That sent me on a wild buying spree!

    So I just bought these:

BigClimax.com - Movie site or ??? (Porn, no not me ;-)

    KeyProfit.com

    WyseMove.com

ValueGeek.com (Going to put the ThinkGeek affiliate program on this one and develop it. Love their cool geek gifts and gadgets.)

    UniGoal.com

    USlocal.info

    AllUSA.info

These are my 1st 2 NON.com's. Geographical .info's have been fetching a decent price so thought I would try these.

Going to park them at SEDO and generate some PPC clicks then see if any will sell. Figured even if I only get 800 a piece for one of them, that's better than a 10,000% ROI and maybe one will hit it big and fetch more.

    ============================================
So now share your latest score below!

    My oh my...

The EXACT same thing happend to me also!

I too have a list of domains that I'm thinking about buying, then a month ago someone bought blogsdirectory.com the next big domain that I was planning to buy since google showed interest in blogs.

So out of fustration I bought and self pity i went out and bought blogsdirectory.net and blogsdir.com... I feel a little better. But the big fish got away!

Anyhow I'm guarding my list VERY carefully now, and Im not doing any searches unless I'm SURE that I'm ready to buy the domain. (Some sites keep a record of all searches made)

If I think of a good domain I'll just add it to the unsearched section of my list and search when I'm ready to buy :)![/b]

Funny isn't it - kind of like finding a new shirt you "kinda" like, but arent sure. Then when someone else comes along and puts it in their cart - suddenly you just have to have it.

Anyhow I'm guarding my list VERY carefully now, and Im not doing any searches unless I'm SURE that I'm ready to buy the domain. (Some sites keep a record of all searches made)
Very GOOD point. I'm paranoid everytime I do name research that someone on the other end will grab the name before I do.

    Hi Catalyst,

I decided to buy less domains and try to
develop more of them before buying new ones.

Anyway I registered these 4 recently:

    10TopAffiliatePrograms.com
    AffiliatesArchive.com
    SuperBusinessOpportunities.com
    SuperHomeBusinessOpportunities.com

They are all about affiliate programs and
business opportunities, and my hope is once
    develop they will become 'useful'...

What do you think of them?

    xmx,

They are long but good and descriptive. They should get good traffic if they are developed and optimized.
The would probably not sell for above reg fee until they get good traffic. Best of luck with them!

    Thanks Catalyst,

I think they are quite targeted.
And they are going to be developped soon.
    The 1st will be SuperBusinessOpportunities.com.

Just some advice that I should have followed myself a while ago..

I often have quite long surfing sessions and do a lot of investigation in domain names...this can take hours and hours and usually I drink a few glasses of wine with it.. the advice:

NEVER EVER buy a domain name when you are close to getting drunk !

I bought some stinkers in my time and the next day, when sober again, I wonder why the hell I EVER bought that stinker of a name ! I bought a name once that was such an obvious typo but couldn't see it and thought I struck gold.. it expired last month.. it was soo bad, I never even listed it anywhere.

    kikkertm,

Your post CRACKED ME UP! And it's good advice.

The other word of caution is that some sites that have tools for helping to find or research domain names that are not registered collect the data. I'm sure some of them register good ones that you and I think up.

    Adult content domain name

    Hi Guys

This name has been a good score for me
-- sexyboys.us -- this is parked on Sedo and is getting traffic and a 40% click through on Sedo's advertising making me one pound[sterling]in 2 weeks.

I suppose what I really need to do is develop the site and turn it into an earner to either sell or even keep. The problem there is while not a prude, I have not paid any attention to porn on the net so don't really know where to start. Any ideas ???

Are there any porn affiliate type programs??? Especially ones that don't require me to create or edit the "porn site", maybe just a redirect or something similar.

Don't get me wrong here I am not anti porn etc, it's just not my style.

    Cheers ... David

PS. Catalyst, please feel free to move this into the affiliate forum if you think I might get some help there, but I am still bragging to my fellow "Domain Game" players about a good "SCORE", and wishing you all 'good luck'
