I think it will be announced on September 12,2012 and will be released on the 21st 2012. One of the main features is the 4 inch 16:9 screen, 30 per cent bigger than current iPhones. Everyone thinks that it will be called iPhone 5, but Apple company has not decided yet and they might call it some other name. They will certainly do everything to beat there latest competitive product, Te Samsung S III. Lets wait and see how it goes!
iPhone 5 is really Top Notch technology but these days smartphone manufacturer like Sony, Samsung and HTC are playing close enough.

Not more than described in the articles linked to in the original post.
A fast query may give you a more precise answer. I have heard that iPhone 5 (and Windowswill be released in 2012, so there are less than 4 months less if I am correctly informed.

I don't like these new crossover phones. They're getting bigger and looking more like tablets. meanwhile tablets are getting smaller and will presumably soon include a phone capability. Seems to me this will converge down to a device that's too big and clumsy to fit in a pocket or hold to your ear and too small to do any significant viewing or computing.
If the iPhone 5 turns out to be bigger like the new Samsung devices, it won't get any likes from me. I think though there is a case for a slightly smaller iPad, maybe 85% of the current one.
It's similar to crossover vehicles. You get something that doesn't have the comfort and efficiency of a car nor the load carrying capability of an SUV. Neither one thing nor the other and as a compromise not much good at either function.
