Will free articles heart your site?

Will your site be affected if you publish content from Articles directories on your site?

My understanding is that if most of your content on your website is the same as what's already been published, then - yes - it is likely to hurt your rankings.

I would guess that - if you publish an extract from an article - but most of your content is unique, then this could be OK??

However, if most of your site is merely duplicating what is already out there, then why would Google want to index the original content AND your duplicates (and all the other duplicate sites that exist)???

    Good point!
So you're saying that is not a good idea to publish, let's say 20 original articles and other 20 copied articles from various directories.
    This will hurt your site.

Duplicate content publication is a definite bad practise, avoid it. White good menanigful and full of information articles, publish on good article directories or blogs and share them on social networks. That's the best practice.

I think NO! But free articles websites can not give you priority to your articles. And you can not track whether your article approved or not?

Since when? The ones I use do. Article alley, Ezinearticles and GoArticle all have login areas that tell you if an article is accepted or rejected. Sometimes straight away if it doesn't meet their criteria.

    How Google judges duplicate content

    GWMT re Duplicate Content

Google tries hard to index and show pages with distinct information. This filtering means, for instance, that if your site has a "regular" and "printer" version of each article, and neither of these is blocked with a noindex meta tag, we'll choose one of them to list. In the rare cases in which Google perceives that duplicate content may be shown with intent to manipulate our rankings and deceive our users, we'll also make appropriate adjustments in the indexing and ranking of the sites involved. As a result, the ranking of the site may suffer, or the site might be removed entirely from the Google index, in which case it will no longer appear in search results.
As these guidelines indicate, duplicate content on a domain or across many domains is judged on many factors.

Read the Canocicalization post here on this board. Watch Matt Cutts video on duplicate content. It's an argument as old as web marketing and it isn't settled in many ways.

I used to publish the articles I've written to free article submission like on Ezinearticles and I was told by a co-SEO friend that it's not really a good thing to post articles that are live/published in your own website since it could be counted as duplicate contents.

Free articles doesn't heart your website ranking. But you can track which article approved and which not?
