Hi there

Anyone knows about Image sitemap? Is there any free tool available for creating "Google Image Sitemap" ?

Google's goal is to provide the best and most relevant search results to our users with image search. Giving information about images on our site to Google , we will need to add image-specific tags to a Sitemap. You can create sitemap manually or using third party tool like XML sitemapor submit sitemap in google webmaster tool. Add additional information about images for that particular URL in sitemap. One thing is create great ALt attribute for describing your image.

The tool which you had mentioned is for generating only xml sitemaps. I want a tool which can generate a Image sitemap

There is a plug in for this called XML image site map and it is free.

Just go to Wordpress plug ins section and download it.

Image sitemaps are XML files.

See Google Webmaster Central: Image Sitemaps.

You do not need a separate sitemap for images; you can include them in your normal sitemap.

Originally google image sitemaps, google video sitemaps etc. were all unique (but all extensions of XML sitemaps protocol)

It is true you can have all types merged now into same file, but I personally still prefer submitting a google image sitemap, google video sitemap etc. separately

(Simply adding references to images in standard XML sitemaps is not the same as creating an image sitemap)

Actually, one could always include any file type in the original XML sitemap.

It is the implementation of separate sitemaps for different selected file types that is the newer.

They first allowed merging all-in-one of the different specialized types in June 2010

Apparently image sitemaps were introduced in April 2010 (I remembered it as older, may try search some more)

The original spec. is file type agnostic by design; furthermore, it provides for sitemaps to be segmented.

I fail to see any advantage to be had from Google's encouraging segregation by file type, other than the fact that such breaks ranks with the consortium that gave birth to the original spec., and potentially hinders other SEs should they fail to follow Google's lead. IMO, this is no more than a case of the 800 pound gorilla flexing its muscles.

Prepare image sitemap manually it will be better.

There are no tools for generating image and Video sitemaps.
