Unique/quirky or terrible? Does my site stand out?

    Hello forum,

Long time lurker, first time poster.
I'm designing a little online shop for musical accessories with my friend.
It's not selling yet, about a month off, so we figured now would be the time to ask.
    Do you like our site?
    Professional and stylised or childish?

This is our first site. Any constructive feedback helps.

    Thank you for your time

I've updated this thread's title as the OP isn't able to.

Thank you rah, I was worried the misspelling could be troll bait.

    Any opinions?

The site design is fine, your selling to guitarists and musicians, so quirky is good I guess

My only comment would be to make a button on the menu that can redirect the browser to the homepage. I clicked on your privacy policy and then wasn't able to get back to the homepage

Ignoring the concept graphics, how usable does the site feel?
Maybe a red house for the home page?
The shop isn't open so all feedback helps.

    Thanks,

I'd just add a button above where it says Picks & Mix and call it "Home" - wouldn't impact the design and that way people can always get back to square 1 on your site.

Good idea, I've implemented a home button on the page now.
Commented it out for the time being as it's making the search bug somehow.

As far as product backing, would you go for a pure white or jet black background?
Looking to get hold of a decent camera soon to retake the pictures.

I think it's an interesting, eclectic look, and probably appealing to your market. The navigation at the top is interesting. At first I found it confusing but only for a moment and then I was quite impressed by what seems to be a very good idea. The overlap of nav buttons with page numbers is a little annoying but I think this works. Get 10 guitar pickers to tell you what they think ... are you on Facebook? Do you have musician friends there? A friend of mine on FB just developed a new website and to get feedback she created an Event to announce it and ask her friends to visit the site and provide feedback. Lots of people are obliging her.

You have a style that is your own and I think that bodes well for you. Your headline on this thread, for example, got me to click through and look at your site. I can't remember the last time I came to this section unless I just wanted to be helpful or was personally asked to review a site.

Wow, I didn't expect a response quite like that. Thank you for the kind words, they made me smile =)
We have a few ideas on how promote our site. Social media & word of mouth is definitely one.
Keeping it on the hush for now, don't want to serve anyone a unboiled egg so to speak.

Added a few more touches in, do they work?

As a acoustic finger picker, I did searches for "thumb picks" and "finger picks," and came up empty. Could only view them by selecting from drop-down menus or the slide show on the home page.

BTW, as finger picks are best adjusted to each finger for size and feel of placement, which is not possible with plastic picks, suggest that you add metal thumb and finger picks.
