I highly suspect that mass duplicated, low quality, un-ranked directories will provide no value and may actually cause a negative association.

If you're really interested in being listed on those sites, maybe you should pay the owner a quick call if you can find his number and ask him how serious he is about his directories. Theiry on sub domains and a lot of the time they are used for testing - I do anyways.

Then you want to find out if their going to all be the exact same sites. After determining all this you can decide if you want to shy away from them or not but at this time I feel the same way as mccreath does.

Quality directories are still somewhat worthwhile but if you have to ask, it's not a good enough directory. Look for a directory you KNOW you want to be in whether Google likes it or not.
