    Thumbs up London olympics 2012

    Here

    http://www.london2012.com/

is the official site of the 2012 London Olympics. I look forward to the competition. Which nation will take:
    1. Most Gold medals?
    2. Most Medals overall?

How many Gold medals will your country take? I personally hope for two Gold Medals for Norway.

The football results so long (Cnn how up to date are the reporters on Olympic Football?):

    http://www.london2012.com/football/s...uly/index.html

    Spain 0 - Japan 1.

Cnn called that a shocking news. I understand that the Cnn reporters are more up to date on Basket ball and American football. Olympic football is not comparable to VM, EM football etc. Some years ago a team from Eastern Europe used to win the Olympic football competition. How many teams from Eastern Europe have won EM or WM?

And the Great Britain Team = Wales

    (so long).

I look forward to a spectacular opening seremoni in a few hours.

I read that they won't be airing the Ceremony in the US. Bummed. Certainly looking forward to watching as many events as I can.

The opening ceremony was fantastic, but I didn't get to see the end. Very artful and entertaining, and definitely very British. If it's available on youtube, the 'Chariots of Fire' sequence, the Mr. Bean version, is hilarious. Go Canada!

Agree. It was a fantastic opening. You know I am form Western Norway so the distance across the sea to England is shorter than to Sweden and Denmark. I love London and the people there. I should like to be there.

Michael Phelps already have 14 gold medals. You can vote here http://www.michaelphelps.net/ for how many he takes in London. He may end up with 20 gold medals before he finish his career. He will then overshadow fantastic Mark Spitz that took 7 gold medals and set 7 world records in the same olympic competition.

And how many gold medals will the worlds fastest man Usain Bolt http://usainbolt.com/ win? I definitely look forward to the games.

What about China, will they copy the results from Beijing Olympics and be the most winning nation?

I saw the whole opening ceremoni and for the first time in history there is a woman on every of the 205 teams. When we see the smiling competitiors that enter the arena, it strikes me.

Why could the world not be "one nation" (then there would be no Olympics in its present form)? Why are there so many wars and conflicts in the world? Sports can hopefully give its contribution to a more peacful world.

    Here http://www.olympic.org/ is another site.

Even before the games opened, we had a fantastic individual and team world record from South Korea.

South Korean archer Im Dong-hyun sees only blurred colors and lines when he peers toward the target about 76 yards away, arrow at the ready. It doesn't stop the legally blind Olympian from hitting the grapefruit-sized yellow center — again and again and again.

Im set the first world record of the Olympics on Friday, breaking his mark in the 72-arrow event and helping South Korea set a team record in the opening round. He broke the world record he set in May by three points with a score of 699, hours before the opening ceremony.

"This is just the first round, so I will not get too excited by it," said Im, who has 10 percent vision in his left eye and 20 percent in his right.

Now it is 250 Km and 6 hours cycling.

England have the favourite, Tour De France Winner Mark Cavendish http://www.markcavendish.co.uk/

    I am nervous.

Norwegian Edvald Boason Hagen http://www.teamsky.com/profile/0,272...638044,00.html is an outsider on a good day. We can hope for a medal. Our best cycler the last years Thor Hushovd www.teamhushovd.com that won the World Championship in Australia is in bad shape and don't compete in London.

I like your pointing out the inclusion of women. It is 2012 after all, not 1012.

There is an interesting development in cycling 250 Km. A group of 12 including Belgian Rolands, Russian Menchow and Norwegian Alexander Kristoff have broken out.

They had a lead of 6 minutes, now it is reduced to 5 minutes and 20 seconds.

Now they are in the nine rounds in Boxing Hill with an average of 5 % uphill. It is not hard for one round, but for 9 it is. Mark Cavendish is regarded as the best sprinter in the World. The consensus seem to be that he will win in a mass sprint. Alexander Kristoff is our best sprinter, so look up Great Britain if you don't pick the group before the finish.

With just under two months to the London 2012 Olympics, Norway has named its men’s road team for the Games, with Thor Hushovd (BMC) and Edvald Boasson Hagen (Sky) leading the line.
The pair are joined in the four-man team by Alexander Kristoff (Katusha) and Lars Petter Nordhaug (Sky), while Gabriel Rasch (FDJ-BigMat) and Vegard Stake Laengen (Team Type 1) have been listed as reserves for the road race, which takes place on July 28. Boasson Hagen will also participate in the time trial on August 1.
Used to competing at the world championships with significantly fewer riders than rival nine-man squads (a handicap which of course did not prevent Hushovd from taking the rainbow jersey in 2010), the balance will be tilted more in favour of the Norwegian team in London, with the five the maximum number of riders allotted to any nation.
“This is a difficult race to control because each nation has fewer riders at the start than at the Worlds,” said Norwegian director of sport Steffen Kjærgaard. “This will be an advantage for the Norwegian team, as we have more riders at a high level to determine the race in our favour."
Hushovd has been named as the team’s road captain for London, but this does not necessarily mean that he will be the leader on the day. “It’s too early to say at this time,” said Kjærgaard.

Now Hushovd is out as explained.

So the great question is. Will Great Britain and Germany cooperate to obtain the main field?

Norwegian commentators say that it is an ideal developmemnt for our team because we have the best sprinter in 12 man group and Hagen in the the main field.

Thumbs up Fantastic Olympics 2012 London.

    Fantastic Olympics London.

    Congratulation London and UK.

Can anybody do the end ceremony better with so many known stars? This post is written while there is about one hour til the Olympic fire is extinguished.

And as I wrote in the first post. Norway got two gold medals, one silver and one bronze.

The USA became the best nation, but what imrpessed me most was the man for the masses Usain Bolt and Jamaica.

And just now, the Spice Girls are entering the stage.
