Don't you think FireFox is in the mood of version Race?

I have seen quite a good development in Firefox versions! The most good update which I saw was from 3.6.9 to firefox 4. But in recent last 2 years I have seen Firefox making lot of version names even for smaller changes! It's like last night when I slept I was having Firefox 11 but in morning it got updated to version 12. I agree to be updated but is it necessary to give a new version name for every minor update? If you see Internet Explorer for every version they introduce something new! for example Internet Explorer 9 from Internet Explorer 8..So Don't you think FireFox is in the mood of increasing the no. of version race?

All they are doing is emulating what Google does with update/naming conventions for Chrome.

that's right, Now almost everyone of us is preferring Chrome for it's no. of advantages such as Background Updates unlike in the case of Firefox, which needs restart after every update!

I actually think Firefox's new update includes background updates similar to that of Chrome's. I think they've realized how annoying all their updates have been.

yes you have said right but another conquering fact about chrome is that , when you install any extension on it, you don't need to restart the chrome browser to finalize the installation . On the other hand , installing any Add-on to Firefox needs a restart which probably takes a bunch of minutes and in situations like a large no. of tabs and multiple firefox windows opened ,Restart process is quite annoying!

Although Chrome is gaining ground in terms of users, with (all approximate) 30% of Internet users using IE, 23% using FF and 13% using Safari, I'd hardly think everyone (28%)is preferring chrome. Sourcez: w3counter.com

But its Update Version numbers are Stupid - we will soon be on 99.

And Its webpage printing is very poor, - for me it either prints out lots of blank pages.
And If you try to print a certain page it never works.

I am close to changing to another browser.
I didn't try its printing feature because of its annoying hanged up situation . I have tried with chrome and Opera. May be that could solve your problem!

yes, even I think that firefox is running a race. I think that they are trying to show the world that they have a high number of versions and trying to mislead customers by giving them a false idea: The higher the version number, the more features it includes.
Sometimes two consecutive versions have very small differences. Lets hope the Firefox 14.0.1 stays for some time ...

    I agree above...

Mozilla also plans to enable silent updates in Firefox 13, which means, any updates to the browser would be performed silently, without any need for user intervention. Additionally, Firefox hotfix would download any new patches, without requiring a browser restart...
