My clients ask for a CMS generally. They want to be entirely in control of their content. If it's true what you say, I should perhaps reconsider working with Joomla on daily basis. I've seen some extremely nice WP templates recently.
But then, WP still feels like blog. But then again majority of clients don't need to manage booking or intend to run web stores..
Yes, I better reconsider, I guess.

Yes, as soon as you say "WordPress", many people imagine a bog-standard site that looks like WordPress. But some elegant sites ably conceal their Wordpress origins.

Not that our site is the best thing since sliced bread and it isn't without its problems, but it is done entirely in Wordpress. (in my sig below).

That's an attractive site, Chris, and it certainly does not shout, "WordPress!" Some sites that I find interesting, I have to look at the source code to find out how they did it. (And some webmasters scrupulously remove all internal references to their CMS or content generator, to try to leave visitors guessing!)

    Thanks.
The Short answer is YES!! they do. Thousands of people now make their living building websites exclusively in WordPress, I have made it my sole focus for the web and it has turned into a great business for me. This Video from Matt Mullenweg on the State of the Word 2012 discusses that and more http://vip.wordpress.com/2012/08/08/...the-word-2012/

Good luck with your business when you need help just ask the community they share allot.
