Please Review my new social site

Hello I thank you all in advance. I have been working on my new site at http:www.myzon3.webs.com it's not ready just yet but I think I need some feedback before I go any further. I am quick to return a favor so if you need a review as well just let me know.

    Hi Dart,

Your work looks nice, I just think the top nav area, as well as the header area take up too much room. I would like to read more of the post without having to scroll down.

Also, I found it easier to read the content when I zoomed out, The content font was just a bit too large for easy reading in a large paragraph.

The site is a 'free website' (www.webs.com) that might not have a lot of flexibility in the template, or very little documentation to guide a person through the customization process. Would have to try out a couple to see what the experience is for a newbie starting out.

    Where to begin?

-First, I'd not use the parque background. I'd go for either a plain background or maybe a gradient.
-Your banner image is gigantic, and very plain. You can do one or the other but not both. Shrink it down so it can fit to the left of the navigational bar.
-The join now button on the front page is too large. Reduce its size.
-Get rid of the "Login with Facebook" button and any other mention of Facebook on your site. If your site is a social site then it's supposed to replace Facebook.
-Add Login and Register links to the top of the page as well as in your footer. In fact, you could also put links to any legal stuff in your footer as well.
-I'm not sure what the "Comments" section is for. What are users supposed to comment about? If you want people to comment on your website then I'd retool it to say "Feedback" and not make the results public.
-Can any member contribute to the blog? If so, you should make that clear.
-As your site grows you might want to make subdivisions of your blog section. You could have hundreds or maybe thousands of people submitting to the same blog at the same time. Not right now, but in the future consider breaking the Blog section into subsections by topic.
-Similarly, you could probably get rid of the "Testimonials" subsection. This website isn't necessarily about you but your members and them interacting with each other.

Overall, it's not really clear as to what you get and what you can do once you're a member. Can you share something that is not music or a video? Can you join or create a group? Can you round up or invite "friends" on the site? How do members interact with each other? There's a lot that still needs to be explained.

Webs.com is an excellent place for people to get the hang of coding, as it offers pre-made templates and very easy customization options. With that being said I didn't use the site editor at all. You see "WEBS" offers a pre built frame work or HTML (Like body,container,sidebar...) I used CSS to change up the site so while I didn't create the structure it is costume coded. Lets see... I believe I added very little HTML of my own (not saying that I can't), the real reason I use WEBS is because it's "FREE" and a great website host not because I can't build my own site.

I can't begin to say how help full your feedback has been. I will work on it some more, you are pretty much right about everything. To tell you the truth i'm not sure what to do with the site myself, I've just been focusing on the design but I promise to work on it. Thanks again if you'd like to return the favor just ask (that goes for anyone that has posted).

Thank you, i'll see what I can do
