That was not a subscription that was affected by the problem being experienced; it's Notification setting remains as "Active.

Correct. Subscription setting are independent of any moderation, including a thread being closed.

    But are
    1. The relations in the database intact after a deletion of all the posts belonging to one or more members?
    2. If yes, isn't that illogical?
    3. There may also be a difference between automatic subscriptions in threads you post in and in threads that you manually subscribe to (if that is possible).
    4. How it is treated may depend on the specific forum platform.
    5. How posts is indexed and deindexed (after a recrawl) by the search engines indexing machine is another question.

    Cool URIs don't change

Conclusion: It was not a cool URI

In a static world, nothing would ever change. Everything is dynamic, and change is inevitable. If we didn't delete objectionable and fluffy responses, you couldn't find the wheat for all the chaff.

This problem is not related to indexing, but to the value of a specific data element being changed from one valid value to another valid one.

    This problem persists.

At this time, given a sufficiently large number of instances, it appears that the alert type is, under as yet unknown conditions, being reset to "None" when I post to the thread.

This problem is now getting worse.

And, it is definitely determined that the reset in Alert Type happens to a thread when I post to it; but, not always.

I had experienced this problem in the past. It hasn't happened to me in a while.

Is anyone working on this problem?

It is ongoing, and has become a PITA.

Sorry, can't answer that. I don't doubt it is being studied, but could be an issue with vBulletin. DS, have you seen the issue on other boards?
