    My First Website

Always exciting to do your first site.
It's for my parents' construction firm in the Chicago area.
Please have a look, I'm mostly interested in the overall look and accessibility of the site.
    The link is: renovax4u.com

and reply with any comments, itd be greatly appreciated.

Also, for some reason, if you look closely, the pictures i put in become pixelated in the white space around words or photos.
Like if the picture got "dirty" when uploading.

    All feedback is greatly appreciated

I really love the styling of your menus. - Can I ask where you adapted this style or is it your custom design?

    Hi,
    Thanks,
I actually found it online some time back then had a friend paste the code in the right places.
Editing is extremely easy once its up and it does look great.

I'll email him for details if the website name is still somewhere in the coding.

Did u see any other positives or negatives?

No need to: Free CSS Drop-Down Menu Framework

Negatives? The center aligned body text is one; the major excess of keywords in the meta data is another; the uppercase tags is a third (invalid XHTML); typography is not that attractive and a little bit crowded and busy. For a simple page, the home page is really quite busy, maybe too much so. Good first effort, though, on the whole. Be careful not to put all your focus on SEO, but rather on the site design and content, especially starting out. This is where all your best energy will be spent, making the SEO side much easier as you move forward.

In addition to the coding and keywords issues already mentioned here are some more ideas for improvement:

    Need some original content
e.g. your James Hardie Siding page
Don't feel bad, this is a common problem when people are a rep for a product. Why is it a problem?
    a) The original company may or may not beat you in the search results
    b) All the other reps are using the same product descriptions. If the searcher reads one above you they are not going to read yours.

The frame you used to capture the supplier's slideshow is not tall enough here in IE9. Takes away from the presentation.

On the same page, providing some specs as to the dimensions of the boards would be helpful. Consider: a person might have done some preliminary "shopping" to decide what it is they want and seen actual samples in various sizes (not necessarily the brand you supply) and have a visual in their mind which size they want. Makes your estimating easier instead of dealing with what ifs.

On this page you have 3 photos (assuming these are your own projects). Describing the projects (possibly providing before and after pics) would help with the unique content problem and show the visitor your skills/capabilities.

    Web Page Names
It would help with your search engine optimization is your web pages were real names instead of renovax4u.com/index.php?page=12. Just one little thing of many things you can do to help with your overall search engine optimization.

    Sidebar Free Estimate Image
It would be better if the text in this image was actual text coded into the page instead of in the image.

    a) search bots don't read images
    b) person might have images turned off for some reason
    c) having your phone number hard coded into the page could help with your local SEO
    d) some phones they can click on your phone number to place a call right from the phone screen

And speaking of local SEO, having your contact information in the footer of each page can help for local searches plus if someone is collecting names to call for an estimate by printing out a page from your site your contact info is right there, no having to look for you again.

    Footer
Great that you are displaying the associations and brands you are members of/sell. It would look tidier is they were:
    -all the same size
-all either with or without borders

A lot of sites when the have a bunch of these make them all the same size (smallish) and grey scale. Just a thought.

    Portfolio/Past Projects Page
I couldn't find a past projects page. This would be a great opportunity to demonstrate the quality of your work and the size of projects you are capable of undertaking.

Some testimonials would be good also.

You generally did a good job for a first site. Congrats.
