    "Contributors" on my Wordpress website cannot upload photos to their posts

    Hello, I am having a problem on my Wordpress website. The "contributors" cannot upload photos on my website when they are making a blog post. Only the admin can upload photos.

    I get the following error message: "You do not have permission to upload files."

    I have NO IDEA what the problem is because uploading photos has worked ever since I started the website which was many, many months ago. Uploading photos has always worked. Last week it was working, then out of nowhere, it stops working this week. I have made zero changes to the website between last week (when it was working) and this week.

    I can only think of one thing. Yesterday, I was working on a different website, on the same server. I contacted HostGator support to help me with the permissions for that other website. I'm not sure if they messed something up on my HostGator account. I contacted HostGator again today to see if they could help me with my "uploading photos" problem. They couldn't help out.

    I also searched on Google and could not find any material that would help out. I literally do not know where to start to try to figure out the problem. It is so frustrating.

    Any help would be helpful. Thank you..

    Also I wanted to add. The problem is with my server and possibly the "permissions" or something.

    I tested this on another website running on the same server and I have the same problem.

    There are some interesting hits in this serp: what permissions to set to allow image upload by users

    Hopefully something in there works for you. If it's just permissions, then it will be quick fix.

    <edit>
    It just hit me your provider is not being very helpful. You can set folder permissions with your FTP client. I'm hoping the above serp will have explanations for all the permissions (R-W-X). If not, here is another serp:
    read write execute permissions.
