How to Get Good Traffic Fast!

Let's say I want to increase my websites traffic. The idea is to create more pages. But pages that focus on nothing but problems. Problems people needing my services might search for.

This would be a list of anyone that could possibly ever buy from me.

I’ll then create pages for folks with these problems and introduce them into the story that is already being told on the site.

Everyone, at some point, starts at zero and anyone that makes a purchase has to reach the last step. So I have the beginning and end of the story.

Each page would focus on a different level of awareness, a different desire, a different idea, and different way of getting their attention. Depending on that information the page would then invite them to take the next logical step.

The site would be full of pages that introduce web visitors into funnels that best meets their current circumstances.

Here’s my question!

This is a site with thousands and thousands of pages of content that dates back 4 years.

But what I really want is a site full of landing pages that feed into funnels. Then I want to arrange articles so they point to the most likely landing page for that person’s needs.

But what to do with the old content that doesn’t fit in?

If the content on a page isn’t able to link to another page with-in the funnel, should that page be removed, rewritten or left alone?

My new pages should be added or gotten by rewriting the old pages. How will I get the most traffic the fastest?

That reminds me of the old "search engine theme pyramid", where you would set up your site based on categories (or funnels). The high level categories are at the top, and each have subcategories, and then sub-sub categories (if needed) and the pages of content, like this:

Home page
- category
- sub category
- page
- category
- sub category
- page

Yes, exactly. But what about the old pages?

Rewrite them or write new ones?

Remove them or just leave them?

I want a dynamic menu that changes depending on the information you are getting. Like Amazon's.

The whole site has lost it's ranking so at the moment it's not like any of those pages are driving any traffic. But when the rankings come back I don't want to have lost 1,000's of internal page rankings.

So what's a girl to do?

Does Wordpress ping a site that you change the page on exactly like it would if I added a new page?

If I click the little URL changer link and change the URL how does wordpress treat the old page?

I would just work the old pages into the navigation. Every URL has history, and Google knows how long the page has been around. I wouldn't update any pages by changing their URLs, then you would have to 301 redirect to the new URL and updated any links. Just build new links to the old URLs.

Okay, if I edit the content to bring everything up to date I think wordpress pings the search engines the same as if it was a post. I was thinking earlier that maybe I would leave the url's in place and start slowly rewriting the content and using any pages that could be used. Maybe remove any pages I am unable to re-write content for because it could be one of those that's hurting my ranking.

But rewriting all those pages doesn't seem like much fun. Adding more pages would be adding more internal links. And I've made a lot of changes site wide in hopes of getting my rankings back on the next update.

So maybe your way is the way to go.
