These signals help us understand when you find links pointing to your content that you want to distance yourself from for any reason. You should not expect a dramatic change in your rankings as a result of using this tool, but the information shared does help Bing understand more clearly your intent around links pointing to your site.

Does that indicate that an inbound link from an external domain beyond your control can have negative value (on the SERPs) in Bing? If it is correct, a competitor can hurt your site in Bing by using some domains to manipulate your position. Or he can hire a webmaster in farawayland to do the job for you. I am highly sceptical, since it makes the internet super high way of scam wider.

Not cryptical at all, and it was fully explained, it was in reference to his image explanation of how a 403 works.

kgun we have been saying for years that it can be, and is being, done. None of the engines really have a handle on it, many of you just wanted to stay in the blissful state where you could not see it happening.

I simply find it hillarious now that all the old naysayers are acting like this is shocking news that it is now known it can be done. Twasn't shocking in the least, they were all told long before. They were just refused to listen.

You and everyone else are allowed to bombard my site www.redcarpetrank.com with snaky links and whatever insemantic links you want. But don't expect a reciprocal link

Yes, and we have been discussing it for years without reaching an agreement regarding Google. We have not discussed it in relation to other search engines, even if there were a few general remarks in the well known thread:

Can inbound links really hurt you?

It is not so much (for some of us) that we refused to listen, but that we listened to Matt Cutts (the Google Spamfuhrer) instead. He said it could not be done, because otherwise you could poison a competitor's site. That made so much sense that we believed him. (Mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa!)
