Exactly right. There are just so many places on the internet offering free information, free software, and free facilities, that nobody wants to pay for anything. A mentality has even developed where some people think that digital products "ought" to be free, and that the authors are "cheating" if they ask to be paid.

On the other hand, the public hand over zillions to Amazon and eBay, because they are receiving physical products that they never expected for free.

OK. There are exceptions. But I think that the above is a useful generalization.

So what is our best option to make money online? Possibly to earn money from affiliate sales of mail-order physical goods, where we market online and find the buyers. Hmmm... Where to find the buyers? What did janeth post recently?

I don't think so, we build two sites. One that does consulting and another that does link building.

We then start marketing the hell out of those sites using social media and SEO.

I'm getting confused here. Didn't you write the following yesterday?

I think the reality of web marketing today is that the road to riches is a lot longer than maybe it was -- especially during the gold rush 10 years ago. Now things seem to be more in line with how business normally works -- where it takes years to build a sustainable clientele and reasonable return on your investment.

Lovely sound bite -- lousy logic. How about, "Just like there is a formula for getting older and dying, there is a formula for living forever young"? If you like that one, I might just sell you a copy of my secret map to the fountain of youth.

One example of a strategy that has worked.

Created a video on Website Conversion Rate: search youtube for "website conversion leonstreete" cant post urls yet.
The video was 30 minutes in length
Emailed out to my mailing list local clients
The video was shared by someone off the mailing list via facebook
This person off facebook got in touch via phone.
They came to my office 3 days later and signed a contract for £3000.

Total time: 3 hours to record edit upload the video and create and send my email.
