Exclamation Ten thousand Facebook Likes From Elance?

I've seen this twice now, on Elance, a needed Job where the employer seeks 10,000 Facebook Likes for a page.

Is this really possible? Now don't get me wrong, I have zero desire to purchase likes but there are people actually bidding on this and I just can't see how this can be done?

If there's a programmer or someone who knows how it can be done please verify this.

What a world where we can buy Likes on a website page so as to make our products look good and tantalizing - and apparently it works!

    Any one have any ideas?

First I don't understand what is the benefit behind purchasing social networking likes or friends. Does they affect our conversation rate? And will help to improve sales for eCommerce websites?

I don't think this would be worthwhile idea to purchase likes or fans or followers for social networking sites.

It doesnt make the goods look tantalizing. If it were real users with real followers, then them 'liking' your page appears in their friends and followers news feeds, and some of them may 'like' the page which shows in all of their friends/followers feeds, etc. etc. etc. and creates brand awareness.

The problem is that most of the imbeciles selling 'likes' are just selling them from accounts they created with a bot and those accounts dont have any worth or real followers. Just a bunch of other bot accounts.

Agreed. These are not targeted followers even if they are "real". No use for this kind of traffic.
