I do think that social is definitely a part of Googles ranking algorithm, although just how much emphasis is placed on Social .. I'm still unsure. I read somewhere that social shares do hold just as much power as a quality backlink, BUT they 'expire' much quicker than a backlink so continuous sharing and social interaction is required to really have an impact.
