Well, I am now totally confused.
I understand that the Original Poster wanted some insights into getting more 'Clicks', but I find myself totally perplexed in regard to what this member want vistors or potential visitors? to click on.

Note; The "high impressions" statement, still leaves me with the thought that the "done that bit" might still apply to SEO (at least for the time being).

My question is just as yours, @Tubby; what are they clicking on? Search results was not the first thing to pop into my mind, ads were. But I think @deepsand is more on track from the evidence in the OP, which mentions nothing of ads.

If the question (how to get more clicks) relates to search results, the answer is painfully simple: be at the top of the SERP's. Here is an article on the subject of CTR and Organic Search that relates CTR to rankings: Maximizing Your CTR for SEO in Organic Results (searchenginewatch; March, 2011.)

Regardless of whether the "high impressions" that the OP is getting are organic or sponsored, the fact remains that what the viewers are seeing does not induce them to click.

And, without our being able to see what is being displayed and for what keyword/phrase(s) we are in the blind, and those having given advice to date have been simply speculating.

I agree but we need a lot more information to understand the problem.
