Exclamation Websites Will Be Forced To Identify Trolls

Websites Will Be Forced To Identify Trolls Under The Defamation Bill. Websites will be legally obliged to provide victims with the identity of people who post abusive and defamatory online messages about them under plans by the Government. Major reforms of the libel laws will also see internet service providers given greater protection from being sued if they help to identify so-called internet trolls. Would-be claimants will have to show they have suffered serious harm to their reputations, or are likely to do so, before they can take a defamation case forward.

Or it's just a way of attempting to make the Internet a better place - there are tons of victims on the Internet who have been destroyed and had their reputations ripped to shreds and tons of them weren't politicians - not to mention the ongoing bullying issue.

There are ways of dealing with public figures that aren't going to make one libel of slander or defamation and it's by clean and accurate reporting.

Do you understand what "defamation" is?

Do you hold that one should be allowed to engage in such behind the shield of anonymity with impunity?

    Defamation

Any intentional false communication, either written or spoken, that harms a person's reputation; decreases the respect, regard, or confidence in which a person is held; or induces disparaging, hostile, or disagreeable opinions or feelings against a person.
