Help with keyword rankings in Google

    Hi,

I need some help to know how much time (3..4..5..6..months or more) it generally takes to rank about 20 key phrases if:

    1. The keywords target US Google search
    2. The local US search volume for all the 20 keywords is between 1000 to 1500
    3. The industry is garments industry
    4. Key phrases are all 3 to 4 words like for example, top garment shop (3 words) or local top garment shop (4 words)
    5. Key phrase has been used in the Page Title as well as in the Meta Description, it is the H1 tag on the page and the same key phrase appears at least twice in the page content
    6. Back links are being generated at the rate of 2 per week from different places such as article submissions, directory submissions, bookmarking, etc.

Awaiting some advice based on given details.

    Thanks

Seems keywords are of low competition plus these are long tail keywords. So they should be ranked quickly.

However, I think you're generating backlinks very slow, and I'm not sure how long will it take. But if you would generate around 15-20 backlinks daily. Then I think it would take about 3 months to rank all 20 keywords.

If you're asking this question, because you have to answer your client then ask for 4 months time... as it'a always best to stay safe.

Generally it takes 3-4 months for getting at top. But this is not a fixed time. Time required for getting at top depends upon the competition for the keyword.

Social bookmarking and Blog commenting both are backlinking techniques. What should we do for getting traffic.

It all depends on the competition of the keyword, well you have taken the right choice of selecting the long tail keywords and if you target on medium competition keywords it will take less time for the keywords to get an better position in the Google.

I can't believe any of you are telling the OP it will take any amount of "time".

I've been providing SEO to clients for some time now and although my success streak is very positive, there have been times when ranking "good" just doesn't happen that easily.

Vaguely you could provide your opinion as to how long it takes to rank but in the end, no one knows - even if the competition is "slim". In that slim sector the competition could be over the top - tip top, and defeating them could still be a big struggle.

And the OP isn't the only one competing for these 20 spots, there are others competing too! Is the domain new? Is all your on-page work the best it can be? Do you plan on obtaining an truly valuable link(s) from somewhere? Where?

You're competitors are doing the same, submitting articles and directory submissions just as you are and have been for how long? Longer than you? So what makes you think you'll rank above or close to them? Even your competitors' competitors are doing as much as you'll be doing and are ranking on page #2 - how are you going to beat them?

Get a few real decent and strategic links from somewhere and you'll have a fighting chance but in my opinion there's a good chance you'll be stuck on page 2 and 3 unless you go something a little extra in the process.

    Hi guys,

I think you're generating backlinks very slow, and I'm not sure how long will it take. But if you would generate around 30-40 backlinks daily. Then I think it would take about 1 or 2 months to rank all 20 keywords. and you can submit article to increase ranking in Google.

So you are saying that with a given number of guidelines, we can not always define that these many keywords will take these many months to optimize and get ranked in 4 months or.....

How can we then estimate ourselves or tell a client that his or her site will be on Google search result ranking within a certain period of time? Can we do that?

I do that, and we all have to. But at the same time we have to let the client know there's a possibility that the effects of our work won't go as planned. That's the problem with guarantees with SEO - we can't really give them. As noted above by many responders, there are so many factors that are unknown in this game, not to mention the work of competitors. There are some websites you'll never be able to knock out of the first spot, and others that won't budge from the 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6th spot no matter how hard you try, until you find that silver bullet.

How long will it take you to find the SEO Silver Bullet for your particular niche? I'm not sure but my clients know there's a chance we won't.

I agree, so much depends on the competition. For you to get on Page 1, let alone at the top of the page, someone else has to be forced off. How strong they are is going to make a big difference. And - will they just roll over and play dead when they are pushed off, or will they fight back?

The other piece that I tell my clients - it's meaningless to be on Page 1 for a keyword that no one is searching for. No matter how much work (or how little!) it took to get there.
