And this is why communities die

Somewhere in the vastness of the Internet, it is happening even now. It was once a well-kept garden of intelligent discussion, where knowledgeable and interested folk came, attracted by the high quality of speech they saw ongoing. But into this garden comes a fool, and the level of discussion drops a little—or more than a little, if the fool is very prolific in their posting.

I severely moderate postings on my own sites. Fortunately I have no sites where opinions are submitted.

I did find some excellent food for thought in the linked article. (well worth the read)

What is talked about isn't pacifism, but passivism.
Babies don't need a vacation, but I still see them at the beach... it pisses me off! I'll go over to a little baby and say 'What are you doing here? You haven't worked a day in your life!'

An idiot is a person that draws you down to his level and starts to convince you.

IMO communities will not die, but the landscape is in constant change.

long time no speak....but i have to respectfully disagree and say that the bigger idiot is the person who gets drawn down to the unsavoury level...and communities do in fact die...with a couple of clicks..
