    New Design for site

    Hi,

Ok, I'm going to have a new site design done & my entire site transferred to WP & I don't know how to do this b/c we can't put the design on the domain since all the pages have to be moved over first. (I may have to keep some of the more complex pages with the other CMS in the meantime)

I assume you will say to put it on a sub domain, but then that means before we can move it to the index page I have to copy all the content over to WP.

The problem there is that the content will also be under the sub domain, so what happens when everything is moved over? How do I get rid of the sub domain so each page has it's original URL that it has now? I've never done this before.

    Thanks

    Hi Michelle,

The best approach to do this is: -

    1. Setup WordPress on your test server

    2. Then customize its design to make it look like the design of the website

    3. Then using the CMS of WP put all the contents and the you are ready to go

    Hope this helps.

    Cheers,

    Hi Maneet,

I'm not sure you understand (or maybe I don't) that my current site is live, so this means I have to move all the pages over to the test area & then somehow replace the URL so it goes back to the URL that's currently live.

So XYZ.com/test/XYZ has to eventually become XYZ.com/xyz & so on. I don't see how that's done easily.
