    Shopping cart functions

    We have a successful on-line business which currently uses IntraLinks ShoppingCartPro Version 3.0 which I have been modifying over the years. I would like to move to a php/mysql alternative which is:

    1. preferably free
    2. easily modifiable/customisable
    3. Able to upload multiple products
    4. Able to download batches of orders
    5. has a log in system for returning customers.

    We have around 300 orders a day and about 4000 products which are changing frequently.
    Sorry if this has been asked before.

    A favourite of mine that I have used for some years is ZenCart (http://www.zen-cart.com) for many of the reasons you mention;

    * Free and Open Source
    * Good backend administration (something I find important)
    * Reporting tools
    * Customer login for return visits
    * Wide range of plugins
    * Search Engine friendly
    * Upload via stock database, excel and csv

    Depending on your skill level there may be a bit of work to customise the appearance of the website, but there are numerous free (and pay) templates that you can use, as well as 1000s of developers who should be able to help.

    There are more and more 'web 2' type shopping carts coming out which are quite cool depending on your target market, but ZenCart is built into a lot of hosting platforms anyway and I suspect that with the number of orders you are generating now using your existing system, that 'fancy' isn't necessarily what you are looking for, but rather practical and less time consuming.

    No doubt other people will recommend other carts too, and in the end it may depend on other factors as to what you go with, but this is a good start.

    I might suggest Tomato Cart. I've been working with it as of late and found it does most everything I want.

    I recommend this great board to anyone who needs comparison in measuring the best cart. I have had really great experience with pinnacle cart as being a store owner, its really must for me[ for you all as well] to get the lost sales back, and this has done the innovative logic offered by pinnacle cart as they introduced a drift marketing fundamentals. More facts on this can be read at pinnacle cart site

    Thanks,

    Hi,

    You can consider Magento too, its PHP & MySQL and offers a lot of tools for the webmaster to manage the store as well as the components available for it makes it easy to add various features to the web store.

    I use Joomla with a Tienda cart, its very robust but takes a high degree of technical skill to set up and modify. I'd be dead without my web guy.
