Help, where do gmail chat invitees get ur address from?

Hi, if someone you don't know invites you to gmail chat, where are they likely to have found ur email address? Especially since they are names from a rude dating site, can they be spam invites? ta julie

Some websites will accept your email as a membership login, and sometimes they have very poor privacy policies where they will expose that email to the public on web pages for others to harvest.

I am pretty sure early versions of Google Groups had issues like that.
