Constantly being dumped by Google Chrome while doing a search

When I use Google Chrome and I use Google to look for information, I'm constantly getting stopped after about 5 queries. It asks me to type in some characters in order to continue. The message states that "our systems have detected unusual traffic from your computer network. This page checks to see if it's really you sending the requests, and not a robot" Anyone know why this happens. I can search all day on Google on Firefox and never once has this occurred. With Chrome I know it will happen almost right away.

I've never encountered this with Chrome which is pretty much all I use anymore. I use search frequently, but not in bulk, so probably couldn't replicate your problem if I tried.

It has to be some sort of glitch, but I can't figure out what. Tonight I googled a couple sports related stories and on the third search I received the message. And it happens constantly.

I too facing the same problem daily. Because when you work in a company your colleagues will also use the Google chrome to search some thing in Google. So Google receives more traffic from the same ip. This is the main reason for this.

The only problem is that I'm an independent consultant so I'm the only one using this IP address.

From your feedback and based on others responses there is only one other explanation that could cause this:

You are using a proxy that is used by others and Google has put a limit on that IP used by the proxy. In time Google will filter all proxies and perhaps relax search requests from such proxies but I doubt that will happen any soon.

Why would Google do this? Could be to do with the fact that Google is using too much energy in serving pages for free. Slowing down requests helps to cut costs and energy drastically.

Check with your ISP if you have a static IP assigned to your account, then make sure your proxy is switched off in your browser. This will eliminate the problem if your browser is set to proxy.

When you have a proxy set in your browser all your traffic goes through another computer (which is a detour, which belongs to your ISP to save sending multiple requests) to get to Google. By having a browser using a proxy Google sees the IP address of the proxy and when too many requests come from that proxythen Google servers will slow down all requests and in some cases totally disable all traffic from that IP/Proxy. My ISP uses a proxy that was totally blocked yesterday due to this reason alone. I am using my own assigned IP to access the internet which fixed my issue with Google search engine.

Good luck in solving your problem!

Google does this when there are too many queries coming from the same IP too frequently. Many people have shared IPs and don't realize it... many times people using the same ISP will appear to be the same IP to Google.

Something to consider... if you have ANY kind of tools querying Google for any reason, this would count against you, too. (Desktop rank checkers, PageRank checkers, Market Samurai, etc)

Considering your case I suggest try to completely remove Google chrome application first after taking copy of important personal attributes saved in it like bookmarks, plug-ins etc. Their after reinstall the Google Chrome browser software from a newly downloaded copy of it. If some virus has corrupted your browser file it might be possible it is sending Google multiple requests or so to make it look like otherwise for Google only to stop you from making any more searches.

Otherwise try some updated anti-virus scanning and see if it helps since to me it appears your Chrome browser is corrupted otherwise searches in Firefox should also result likewise in Chrome.
