First time go at a logo

Hello everyone. First time poster here. I am looking for a review for my first logo that I have made in photoshop. It is for an attorney. His initials are J H. Thank you very much.

Can someone please give me some feedback on this logo? Please!? Even if it is nothing more than you hate it or like it.

I personally like it. I think making the logo a little larger (and I mean only VERY slightly, nothing major) would be a good idea. I say this just because the judge's hammer seems a little too small to make out at first. It should be immediately obvious.

    Hope I helped!

It's not a bad start at all. Well done.

Is there any sort of image that can be intergrated into the logo rather than just initials or is that what is wanted? I couldn't quite see what the gavel was at first glance. I thought it was a kneck tie tbh but that's probably just me.

I think the Idea is quite clever . . But I also did not recognise the Gavel. I thought the gavel was Bow (as in a ribbon)

I think I would want to experiment a bit more. . Does the 'JH' need a blue plaque to rest upon?

Yes, simplicity with no images, that is what the client wanted. You are not the first person that has said it looks like a neck tie. Maybe i will try to turn the gavel upside down and try that.

No it does not need a flat blue plaque. Do you ask because you feel that it may look better without it?

Yes! I do not think it is needed. If the JH was on a letter head on white paper it would look perfectly fine. on a web page perfectly fine. . This would give you scope to make the logo larger. on a business card, fine. I think the blue plaque could be constrictive.

Would a black Gavel look more realistic?
Better still a photo of a real gavel in its natural wood colourings . .would complete your original idea quite nicely.

Great choice of color, use of gavel between the J and H. I would like to see what type of type treatment you will use with the logo. I strongly recommend you recreate the logo in adobe illustrator so when you enlarge the logo it will not lose its quality. I like designing all my logos in vector format.

If you can keep the color your "Bow" contrast to the BG Color, I think it will be attractive.
