Yes. I have to make sure that there is consistency in this mod_rewrite which I had neglected to check for a previous website that was purchased.

How many server directives files do you have on the site? Just the one in the root, or are some higher up the tree in specific roles?

It's a new site so one would expect your directives file is brief, and to the point, meaning no redirects, other than the canonical rule (which is actually a URL rewrite, not a redirect) so I think we can put this aside as an issue.

Next question: Is your domain coming up in search, yet?

Have you tried a phrase from your about page, or privacy page, with, site:example.com?

Good news is that overnight 13 of the 218 pages got indexed overnight! so I expect that the beast that is known as Google has awoken.
With site:domain search 375 results returned which proves to me that the ball is rolling.

I am also starting to think that weegillis is either works for Google or IS Google herself due to the coincidence of this overnight movement!

I am going to sit tight and wait some more now. Thank you for your help weegillis. I appreciate it.

I didn't see the second page of posts when I first wrote my reply below. Great news..

am I understanding this correct? You've made it into the index, but just not into search results? If so, this isn't so unusual. You might land in the results any day...

Question: Did they verify the site in question when you added it to your site list? Have they indicated that your sitemap was downloaded and verified? If the answer to these two questions is, yes, then all you can do is wait, and go about your business. Farmer's plant seeds, in hopes that they will have a crop. There is no guarantee. Consider this parallel.
I think Weegillis may be right. Google rolled out a new update last week and many sites were affected including 4 of my major sites. I used to get about 80-100 unique visitors daily but I woke up to see a big "0" in 4 of them. Panic got me. Today, I checked again and they seem to be coming back. Probably Google is too busy these days. I suggest you wait 2 or 3 more days.

Yes that's correct. I am just happy to get some pages indexed. Now I am just going to sit tight.

Panic did set in for me aswell. Whe you see a good indexing process and then something goes differently, it does get you a little worried especially when sites mysteriously vanish of the results pages!

If you read the Google algo changes for april, you will find one possible reason:

"New index tier. [launch codename "cantina", project codename "Indexing"] We keep our index in “tiers” where different documents are indexed at different rates depending on how relevant they are likely to be to users. This month we introduced an additional indexing tier to support continued comprehensiveness in search results."

Thank you for the info AboutWeb.
I know Google has many Algorithm changes all the time but my mind just turns into scrambled eggs when I see all the Algorithm changes that could affect some of my websites.

Note to self* must keep up to date on changes.
