Not to throw a wrench into this and make it more complex. But I would like 2 sites for review if possible. I have more concepts as well, but let's start with this. I am new to the forum and I hope that I can get good critiques!

    Thanks

For bamvote, here are my suggestions. First, the whole site it monochromatic, make it a little but more colorful. I would suggest a darker background to add more depth to the site. Secondly, for your input boxes, you use javascript to remove the "Enter Comment," you could try the element "Placeholder," which requires no javascript and thus add to user friendliness. Also, your percentages for the votes should be moved ten to twenty pixels to the left. Also, I think that the test for the site is too big, I would make it a tad bit smaller. I would also suggest designing a logo to make the site look more professional.

As for the other site, the color scheme is perfect, I like the blending of different shades of blue. I have two suggestions. First, I would add some css to the login button to make it look a little bit cleaner and more stream-lined. Secondly, when you are in book-reader mode, I would either lower the "next" and "previous page" buttons that are underneath the buttons, or just remove them altogether. Great work so far!

Thanks eggo! This was more than I could hope for. May I ask, what browser you are using? The bamvote site is definitely very simplistic and I agree on using CSS3 elements. But what bamvote brings is a little more in depth than it's appearance. I'm trying to put controversial stories/polls up in a dynamic 'cloud' manner where the trending is bam, centerstage large. I'm sure you see that.

I totally appreciate your feedback for WriterZWeb. The 'next' text was originally removed but I underestimated my readership and when I saw someone struggling to find the buttons I decided to label them. Perhaps I could do a cookie in which after a button is clicked, there's no longer need for the text? I'm all for starting simplistic and making it more advance. BamVote's logo I had in the past as a fist punching through going 'Bam!' Wasn't sold on it yet.

Thanks again eggo, means a lot

The cookie idea could work well, but might just add some unnecessary script to your page. You could make it so that when you hover over the button, a div appears that says "next page," but that might not be exactly what you are looking for. Also, for the logo idea, try this site cooltext[dot]com. It might look sketchy, but it works amazingly and I have used to it create some very professional logos. The interface is very easy and best of all there is no registering and it is free. Good luck!
