Thread: How do I make a facebook page interesting?

How do I make a facebook page interesting?

I really have no enthusiasm for using facebook to promote my business (sounds bad i know). For this reason I can't seem to come up with anything. What kinds of thing can I do?

I guess my main goals are:

    a) get fans / likes in the first place
    b) keep fans interested in / sharing my page
    c) post regular content - but what?

If you have no enthusiasm for working on Facebook you will fail. Your page must be updated 1 - 4 times daily 7 days a week - You need attractive images, videos and provocative questions that promote engagement. Our page is more than 2 years old and is just now gaining traction. We spend a lot of time responding to questions in other (related) groups to help drive traffic to our page http://www.facebook.com/pages/WindyC...m/132634323919. with the new addition to social monitoring in google analytics you can begin to get an over view of your efforts

    Facebook is exciting

I have my doubts about updating 3-4 times a day 7 days a week but I would like others input on that. I feel that you can do too much so that someone will end up unliking you. I did that with one of my personal "liked" companies. She would put out a whole lot of stuff all at once and I lost seeing posts that my friends posted. I ended up unliking her because of that. Not good.

We are just now building our FB page. We have 450+ Likes and I want to keep each and everyone of them. Instead of just posting stuff about what we sell I also scour the internet for things that may interest my reader. We sell Automotive Tools so I look for things like factory recalls, polls on the safest cars out there etc. I also try to ask questions that my readers may ask, merely out of ego!! Everyone likes to talk about themselves.

Sure I'd really say the number of posts a day depends on a number of factors - but good posts are essential. In my case for my dating site's Facebook page, I have to be careful about a lot of things and one of them is not to bother them as you say danilyn, very true. Lately I'm updating it maybe 5 times a week just as a reminder that I'm there and it's usually with love related content. For other pages it's obviously different.

Family related pages can get away with daily updates cause there's so much of us with families and anything related to that subject is usually of interest to us - as long as it's good.

It's funny though cause at this time we're basically talking jibber jabber. Talk to the big time online marketers and they'll get your fan based pumped up into the thousands in no time and they'll come up with a great game plan to do it too - but you'll have to pay for that service - it isn't that easy.

Although, there are others who create pages and without a huge marketing plan or budget do make it and make it big so it can be done. Good luck!

We post very little "product centric" - google alerts is very helpful at delivering content ideas

Perhaps you need to consider what you are trying to achieve. Are you going to get other fb users to engage with you? Will you offer discounts? Are you providing useful updates and advice? You probably need to give people a reason to like and follow you.

I think you kind of answered your own question. You shouldn't make a facebook page for business because you "have" to, you should do it because you want to and are passionate (or at least interested) in it. Facebook is like a blog... it should be dynamic and updated regularly. If you aren't planning to update it regularly, you probably should skip it.
You might also get more out of plugging your limited enthusiasm and energy into your existing business website.

Quality of content and regular interesting posting on Facebook page will make your page interesting.

    This sentence helped me thanks!

Oh yeah, my website sells vinyl wrap for cars, bikes, etc, carbon fibre vinyl etc.

Cars are something I am passionate about, will have to get my thinking cap on. I do have enthusiasm, was just having an 'off' day, haven't got laid in ages! but with so much to do already I might think about paying somebody to do it.

Thanks for the tips so far!
