Are you looking for an Admin bar, the black one at the top of most screens or a page navigation menu?

    Hi Graham

Have you had a look at the Jquery Mega Menu plugin available at Wordpress. There is a horizontal and vertical version and I regularly use the horizontal menu as it doesn't just have basic drop down boxes but you can also break subsets into columns which I find really useful on some websites, especially sporting ones (have a look at the menu here www.wairarapacricket.co.nz to see some possibilities). The plugin has reasonable support and can be added to your theme as a widget and obviously works with the WP menu system. The plugin homepage is here http://www.designchemical.com/lab/ - it can involve some editing of your core theme files, but if you are comfortable with that can produce really effective menus.

Bookmark this site. One of the most useful sites on the web, for me anyway.

Do you mean you want to utilize the wpadminbar? I think there is a filter for that. A filter to add modify links in the wpadminbar.
