Thread: Under Maintenance Site SEO

    Under Maintenance Site SEO

One of my client's website will become live in may/June. But he wants to start off page SEO work from April. So I can say initially for 2-3 month it would be only home page with somewhat text and inquiry form on that. Initially we can start with local company listing etc so till when their website become live their website can rank on some keywords or at least can get referral visits. It can have any negative impact or can be harmful anyhow?

I can't see any 'harm' being done by this but only a few benefits - link wise - as I believe very people would, these days, want to link to an empty site, if it is indeed empty.

Now, you could start writing articles with links to your site on web properties you own. I say write and post them on properties you own because I can't see articles being approved with links to an empty page.

I always put up a basic working page from the start and I don't use text like "under construction" or "coming soon". It doesn't take long to add a few nice sentences about the business and some contact details.

So I say go for it.

I think first of all make your site complete, because no buddy give or approved your link with under construction and coming soon website pages. And according to Google panda update your site will not get ranking in SERP without good content.

Make a 503 server status page for the search engines and an under constructions page for the visitor and then do your general natural SEO!!

In my experience, it is better to release the entire site first. Such sites seem to perform better onwards. Well, it's just my observation and gut feeling, as you may call it. So, take it with a grain of salt.

Could you explain why this can help in any way? This it telling the search engines the website is broken and telling people nothing!

The issue here and in general is that it takes months (I've seen over a year) to release the entire site. Why not set up a quick one page website that sells your business while you wait? Salt grain taken.
