Thumbs up Shamrock Shake for St Patrick's Day

St Patrick's Day falls on Saturday 17th March 2012.

Although I am really rather English, the British Isles have been genetically mixed-about over the last two thousand years, so I'd be surprised if I didn't have at least a drop of Irish blood in me.

On St Patrick's Day, my Irish bits come to the fore, and some 8 pints of Guinness are obligatory. But sometime before or after the beer, a nice milkshake does not go amiss.

Here is the very easy recipe for a Shamrock Shake, to make 2 glasses.

    Ingredients

2 cups of vanilla ice cream
1 1/4 cups skimmed milk or low-fat milk
1/4 tsp liquid mint extract (or juice of fresh squeezed mint leaves if you have a garden)
8 drops of green food colouring

    Method

Just put into a blender until smooth!

For a moment, I thought Shamrock Shake was an Irish dance, oh well, no matter, the drink sounds even better!

Chocolate mint is my favorite flavor

There's no rule against adding chocolate too! Probably add about 200g of milk chocolate to the above recipe.
